Spiritual Media

Loki was first, then Krishna,

gradually the gods emerged

one by one

on Facebook.

Their status updates betrayed
unfamiliar nerves;

rejecting more friends
than they accept.

But as the buzz grew louder,
the traffic grew, the hits stacked up,
more pathways opened.

Deities unknown to human eyes
began to blog

and then on Twitter, God.

On earth his followers
increased, his popularity
soared high,

and nearly rivalled
Stephen Fry.

Taster

Hello, and welcome to my new blog. I'm a poet and teacher.

Here's a little offering - not perhaps that appropriate for a first post but my latest poem so here goes:

Dregs

In the leavings of the night when backs are turned

he'll start and we'll pretend we never notice him

recceing the club for drinks left vulnerable

to pour into his pint, a dishwater cocktail:

lethal, free, and never quite the same drink twice,

just as the girls he will approach before the dawn

are not too fussed about the ring on his finger,

just as he's not too worried about theirs,

and all their talk of what goes on outside these walls;

the fellas, the kids, the problems with rent,

are mixed up in a swirling, oily pint

swallowed with a groan, a grin,

and made all better now with a kiss.
